Robert W. Giering MD, MS
Board-Certified in Physical Medicine & Pain Management Fellowship-Trained in Pain Management
Dr. Giering is board-certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Management which is recognized nationally to be an ideal specialty combination for non-surgical care of spine and chronic pain problems. His fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management is the most advanced level of medical training in the U.S., and was completed at one of the nations’ highest regarded Pain Management fellowship programs, the University of Virginia Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Giering specializes in developing non-surgical treatment options for back and neck pain patients, including the use of customized spine therapy techniques and injections that relieve spine pain. Physical Medicine doctors also use electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS) to assist in making accurate neurologic diagnoses. He further specializes in consulting on the use of a broad spectrum ofpain pharmacology approaches to treat chronic pain problems.
Dr. Giering completed undergraduate and master’s degrees majoring in physics and bioengineering at Colgate University and Dartmouth College. He was a departmentalresearch bioengineer at the Dartmouth Medical School Department of Physiology for many years. He received his M.D. from Albany Medical College in New York. Dr.Giering was also a Chief Resident in PM&R at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Dr. Giering has been on the medical staff in the Department of PM&R and Pain Management at Rutland Regional Medical Center, and Southwestern VermontMedical Center in Bennington, VT. He is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Society of Regional Anesthesia,and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Giering has published book chapters and numerous scholarly articles and abstracts, and has given frequent lectures atregional and national meetings.
Rebecca Breslow, MD
Dr. Rebecca Breslow is a Sport and Exercise Medicine physician, researcher, writer and endurance sport enthusiast. After practicing for many years in Boston, she now treats athletes and active individuals of all ages and abilities in Southern Vermont. She trained at Harvard Medical School, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, and is Board-Certified in Primary Care Sports Medicine and Internal Medicine. She has been a team physician at both national and international competitions for USA Track & Field and the US Figure Skating Association and a sideline physician for numerous teams and mass participation sporting events. She has also authored multiple scholarly articles and book chapters on sports injuries and medical conditions.
Dr. Breslow currently lives in Manchester Center with her family. She enjoys trail running, hiking, uphill skiing, kayaking, and participating in sports with her dogs and horses.
